BOOM!!! Blogging from my phone

So I realized that I do not blog very much anymore. Part of that has to do with not blogging in class anymore, but I noticed the other part is that im on my phone much more than a computer. So I said to myself, "What if I could do all the blogging I normally do, but on my phone?" I realized it was possible already because I had done it once before, but it was a major pain to go to the website and do it. So I found an app that I now do it from. Its nice to have things to be easily accessible :D

My Knuckles are White, how about yours??

This may sound like quite a random topic for a blog... Your probably thinking "really? White Knuckles?" but if you knew a little more detail about the topic, you would I could actually care less about what color your knuckles are. White Knuckles is the name of my band. Saying you have white knuckles is just our way of saying that you are a follower of the band... Or better yet a groupie... But that's a bit too 70's for us. The band is made up of me, Alex Hintz, Brian Radway, and James Van Horn. Brian and James are from Mukwonago, and obviously me and Alex are from East Troy. I would like to make the summary of the band as quick as possible because come on, it's rock... Who wants to read about a band... You listen to bands... Not read them. WE ROCK. It is very true. In fact it is so true that we have video evidence of ow much we rock. YouTube. whiteknuckleslive55. Go and believe.

Grandma's Famous Recipe for Happiness... And great cookies

Throughout all of history, there has been two common ways to find happiness. For some it has been wealth or power, but for others, many others, it has been to just find something you love. This could be a person, a place, a thing, or even just doing something. This could be your wife/girlfriend, the Grand Canyon, your favorite book, or going for a nice walk on the beach. There are so many options for you, but it really depends on the kind of person you are. If you are on the darker side, you may not like the Grand Canyon, but something more like your favorite heavy metal concert. If you are not very energetic and do not prefer walking, it could be watching a nice movie. If you do not like reading, it could be your favorite video game. There are just so many options on what you can do for happiness. I will not just go off naming them, for all that I name will probably make me happy, but people have different opinions. So ask yourself, what makes YOU happy?

One Great Murmuration

I have beheld a most glorious spectacle of many many Starlings, which is actually known as a murmuring. They were simply flying overhead and to me seemed to be doing like a form of interpretive dance. Not like one bird was swaying like a tree, but more like as a whole they moved together to do something that looked similar to the ocean. It's was really breathtaking. There was also the part about very spectacular music playing in the background making the whole thing even more surreal. Oh you thought this actually happened TO ME? I could only hope for something even close to this, and I can only dream for the same experience to happen to me. It is really a once in a lifetime experience, maybe even a once in 10 lifetimes, maybe even 100. I cannot fully express my full awe at this, so the best I can do now is show you... If I could find the link.....

ItS a PaRaLlEl UnIvErSe!!!!!

Mirrors can really tell a lot about a person, especially what they look like. But is there a deeper insight on the person than just looks? Sometimes you may notice that a person may constantly have a little pocket mirror out checking to make sure they look good. This might indicate that they are the kind of person who values looks greatly. Other people could be the exact opposite and could always be looking in a mirror because they want to make whatever they see better because they don't like it for some reason. Then some people are completely opposite of that and never look in a mirror because they think that they are a goddess of beauty and always look good so do not require the need for a mirror. Others can be the opposite of that and never look in a mirror because they are afraid of what they might see, so would rather not know than be disappointed. Then finally we have the normal people who just use a mirror to use to wash up in in the bathroom and then occaisionally check just to make sure they aren't a complete mess. Not to focused on their looks at all and want to be at a happy medium of looking amazing and looking terrible: looking normal. Lastly there are the crazy people who just like to check the mirror to make sure their counterpart is not doing anything too terrible in the parallel universe that the mirror is a window to. It's not neccessarily crazy, after all it is a hypothesis that has neither been proven or disproven (although most would lean towards disproven) it's still a very far fetched idea and most likely does not require constant checking upon. As you can see, a lot can be said about a person using a mirror and how and why and when they use it. I'm going to end with this simple phrase that really sums up this topic in an interesting and possibly cliche way... "You are what you mirror."

Cellular Shirts

So there is this new idea out there for shirts that will act as antennas for your phones and other devices and enhance it's signal 10 fold. There are multiple problems I have with this idea. One, what happens when it gets wet? I'm pretty sure that we all know that when electronic devices get wet, they break and electrocute and sometimes explode. I mean I guess they could try to water proof it, but there is talk of using this for the military and if it starts pouring on the troops for days (yes for some reason I'm thinking we're fighting in Vietnam right now for some reason) I don't know how well or long the devices will last. This also brings me to my second point: Military use. Military personel have somewhere around 200 pounds of gear to carry around. The last thing they want to hear is that they have one more device to worry about and carry around. That would be pretty bad and annoying to me if I was a in the Military. My last problem with this idea is the price. It's $1000!!! I mean I think if I really needed better signal for my phone... I would just get a new phone. They say it's supposed to come down at some point... but until that happens... to me it's just a rediculous idea.

But just to be clear, if it gets to like $50 and works correctly with no accounts of shortages, I'll be all over it. But I think I'm fine until then.

7 Deadly Sins!?!?!?!?!

So, if you aren't catholic, you probably haven't heard of the 7 deadly sins. The 7 deadly sins are Gluttony, Greed, Laziness, Vanity, Lust, and Envy. It is said that if you commit any of these 7 sins on purpose, you will be "damned to hell for all eternity." That's pretty heavy, you know. I mean I think I can speak for about 80% of the world and say we can all see each other in hell for being lazy. Really, though? Laziness? That almost seems unfair. Unless if it's like excessive laziness, in which case I would say about 20% of the world is... maybe. Now anyway, maybe we've all committed one of these sins, but maybe it was only once and never again, or it's just not enough to be doomed for eternity. So really, when you think about it, you probably have a favorite. I'm sure some people like to be lazy, and then some people like to get angry a lot. Then of course, some people like to eat a lot, which is probably where I fall in if I had to pick one. Eating is awesome. I wouldn't say I eat a ton of food, especially because my stomach won't allow me to, but I do like to eat. And I'm not fat either. I can eat, and then go to football practice, and then eat some more because football burns off all the food I end up eating. So like a case like mine, it's not really bad to eat for me because I'm not getting overweight and it's not really excessive. So this begs the question, Since they obviously are not deadly all the time, when do they becme deadly? In think that one can really be up to the person and how they see it. And of course it's also up to God. I would ask him if u really need to know.

School - why do we fail?

So apparently when we do bad in school, we are not the ones at fault. It's all the teachers fault according to the ones who pay for school. The idea behind this is that the teachers have to be able to motivate the students to learn and succeed. So if they don't succeed, then the teacher has not properly motivated the student, putting them at fault. For some reason they don't consider the fact that some students are just not the learning type and are just not good at school in their nature. But it's still the teacher's fault. The other idea behind this is that if the students are doing bad, they can fire the teacher and bring in another hoping they will do a better job. The other part of the idea is that they can't fire he student, so the only possible way to make them better is by bringing in another teacher hoping they will motivate the students better so that they do succeed. To me that's kinda crazy because again if the students are just naturally bad at school, then many teachers are gaining and losing jobs constantly with no positive outcome. They should just look for better ways of getting the bad students to enjoy it more so they will try rather than look for a new teacher. Thats what's up with that.

What is Freestyle???

Today I was told that we could do a freestyle blog. To many this simply means that they can write random stuff about a meaningless topic in some cases (but not in the AFES of course). So great people get to write about something completely random. Is that really a good use of the writer's or the reader's time? Well I guess it would be if it was something funny, because come on, who doesn't like a good funny post once and a while. But really the peopl are not told to write freestyle to be random. The really underlying point is to express their true opinion on a topic of their choice. That doesn't mean for them to go and list their favorite foods, but to actually be interesting and show their point of view. That's why it's freestyle. You can be free and talk about what your really thinking without much criticism. ITS FREEDOM!!!!! Use it wisely! It's not everyday you get to post something about almost anything on your mind, you know. If you really use it well people will become interested and want to know what you are really saying. THAT is what a freestyle is. Do not waste it, for tomorrow it will not be there for you. I hope this has been enlightening to you and you may now go freestyle into the world wide web. Good luck young apprentices.

Oh Jeez... The Best Song Ever...

Wow... I'm gonna blog about the best song ever. I mean there is just way to many things to consider about deciding what the best song ever is. There's best message, best musicianship, most all around likable song, and then my favorite song is getting jumbled in there somewhere. This is a really tough decision for me to make. If you just give me a minute or two I'll think of it. ... Ok so the best song ever. What have I decided? I officially believe after much contemplation that the best song ever would be Surrounded by Dream Theater. This song has a great message that you shouldn't give up or give in to the oppressions of the world or the many bad choices we humans can sometimes make or be tricked into making. This is actually a reoccurring message in many of Dream Theater's songs. This song also has some amazing musicianship. If you ever get a chance to listen to it, you can definitely tell the singer has an absolutely amazing voice that is completely unique to them and to the band. It is also very hard to recreate for any cover bands. Also while you are listening to it, try to listen to all the other instruments: the guitar, the bass guitar, the drums especially (I believe that their drummer, Mike Portnoy, is the best, period), and the keyboard. All of it is completely amazing. Going off the subject a bit, I also think that Dream Theater is the best band ever, but that will be for a different post. So this is the best song ever. Many of you will disagree, some of you will agree. For those of you who do, ROCK ON.

EVIL

Have you ever really thought about how evil our world is? It's pretty bad. We have people like Hitler, Momar Gadhafi, Osama Bin Laden, and of course the Joker and Lex Luther. Why do people act like they do? Do they just want to be cool? Are they supposed to be all-powerful super beings with a motive to rule everyone? Think about it. Even the bully you pass in the hallway can be considered evil. He is deliberately being bad for a motive; to be cool and try to raise his self esteem. Some evil people actually think what they're doing is good and what everyone else is doing, who they are against, is evil. So that really raises the question of Who's really evil anymore? Are we all evil in our own little way? Are we all saints with different ideas that can differ from others? To me after thinking about it it's really mind-boggling to try to comprehend. We all strive to be perfect, but no one is ever really perfect. Or maybe we are all perfect already in our own little way that varies with other people's idea of perfect, meaning in their eyes you could actually be evil to them, but to others you could be a perfect saint. It's really crazy. I mean there's so many things in this to factor in to find if anyone's really evil or if everyone's a Christmas present sent from God. I could go on and on and on and on and on about it all... But I think blogger only allows you to put in so many characters. So to finally sum this up. What's really evil? Evil is your own personal view that involves your political and religious views. So is anyone really evil. I haven't a clue...

The Scarlet Ibis-Bird-Thing

The Scarlet Ibis is actually about a boy named Doodle and his difficult adventures through life, not an ibis-bird-thing. I have learned much from this story. For instance I did not know there was a bird called a scarlet ibis. But really I learned how you can't push people to do things both of you know the one is not capable of like how Doodle's brother pushed him to be more like a normal boy but ended up killing him in a sense. Sometimes instead of taking a gift and thinking of all the ways this gift could be better, you should just enjoy it how it is and make the best of the time you have it. These are things in life that you can either let it be and enjoy, or ruin for good and never getting the chance to do anything with it at all. Again so goes the story of a young boy named Doodle, but if you would really like to learn a lesson --- take a seat with the scarlet ibis-bird-thing and see if you don't learn anything by the time your done. ;)

LIFE

So you know, life is pretty interesting as an AFE. It's full of perks, like iPads and fun classes. But you know it's not all fun and games. AFE life is very complicated and demanding of my already very low energy supply. As you probably know, being an AFE means you are smart. VERY SMART. So smart that you need to almost always be using your smarticles to help others with equal or fewer smarticles. For example, everyday Joey Dominski, Nathan Nguyen, and I always check our math as a group during resource. It's great because it's a win-win; no one gets wrong answers. But more than once in these groups Joey and Nathan have looked to me for many a right answer, so then I have to explain it to them as well. Not to say that those two aren't smart or anything, because I mean I've looked to them for help in the past as well and they've done well and supplied. Things get just get so tiring and physically and emotionally draining that it gets difficult to keep up in the life of an AFE. Oh, but somehow I manage...

Quizlet VS Word Dynamo

Recently I had the chance to try two internet study programs: Quizlet and Word Dynamo. Both programs are very nice and very helpful. I love the fact that they give you the definitions, which just makes life easier. However, if I absolutely had to pick one to be my favorite, and I know I must, I would have to go with Quizlet over Word Dynamo. Yes Word Dynamo is pretty nice and it is a dictionary.com program, Quizlet, I would say, is equally nice and allows you to use it with your facebook account, which now a days is important to everybody. I also found it pretty neat how you could shuffle through your cards after you made them, so I just found it all pretty great. Listen to me fellow AFES, JUST GO WITH QUIZLET!!!

Computers Learning??????

So in just learned that there's some computers that can type up news articles by themselves????? That almost sounds scary but is really cool at the same time. I mean it's great thatnwe haven designed technology to think like us and be smart, but this exactly what some people have been warning us about since the the beginning of technology. Eventually as computers can get smart and develop their own intelligence....we will end up not being the dominant race. It's not too far away and really the thought freightens me. But at least computers are getting better... So for now... I'm happy. You have been warned.

Blogging

Blogging has been an interesting experience for me so far. It's been pretty crazy at times. Just yesterday it took me almost hour to put up my first post....but I knew what I was doing..... The problem was with the iPads and the Internet here at the school keeping us from having fun. I ended up using my fancy phone after a while...which took even longer because I get know signal in this place.... So I'm just kinda going with the flow and getting it done still as best I can....just hang with me while we work out the bugs. And don't be surprised If I go down with technical difficulties for a day.....it's normal.

It's Working!!!!!!!

So this is my first post finally after battling a vicious firewall put up by the man to keep us out of our own blogs. It's the system!!! Well anyway this actually kind of fun. I think I'm going to enjoy this whole blogging thing. Thank you Mrs. Fel for this introduction to greatness. By the way AFES are amazing.
